Positive Behaviour for Learning

logo

Kelso High Campus is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. The researched school wide program’s underlying theme is to teach behavioural expectations in the same manner as any curriculum subject and reward students for appropriate behaviour.

PBL is important to our school because it enables:

  • Students to understand expectations
  • Positive behaviour to be acknowledge and rewarded
  • Building of mutual understanding and respect in a friendly, positive manner
  • Data to drive the decision making process for the school to decide what behavioural areas need addressing.

At Kelso High we value:

Being on Task

Being Safe

Being Respectful

Additionally, within these three expectations, behaviours needed for all students to succeed are:

  • Follow teacher instructions
  • Be in the right place at the right time
  • Be ready to learn
  • Use polite and friendly language
  • Take off and put away hats
  • Turn off and put Mobiles and iPods etc. in your school bag
  • Remain in your seat
  • Care for each other, our classroom and our equipment.

The PBL team is represented by staff from all faculties and uses data to identify behaviours which need teaching and/or reinforcing. The team also determines areas where these behaviours occur within the school so that changes can be made to the school and learning environment.

At Kelso High we acknowledge that families are important members of our school community. We encourage you to work with us towards a common goal of helping all children improve their quality learning environment. This can be done encouraging increasing learning time and decreasing problem behaviour, so that all students can reach their full potential academically and socially.
